As part of our annual commitment to contribute 1% of profits to the local community, Catalyst Environmental Solutions has work directly with social workers from the LA County Dept of Child and Family Services again in 2023 for our fourth consecutive year. The collaborative effort aims to provide furniture, clothes, toiletries, toys, and gift cards for groceries and other necessities for foster children and families in need.
Teaming up with three other small Los Angeles-based companies to supplement Catalyst funds, Catalyst has successfully assisted eight families this year including support for nine children in foster homes, as well as aid for three unhoused families. The collaborative effort not only provides essential items but also extended into financial assistance for security deposit and the first month's rent for transitional housing for one of the unhoused families. Spearheaded by Catalyst CFO, Megan Schwartz, our team worked with the social workers to identify family needs and wants, and shopped, built bikes, beds, and dressers, wrapped everything and delivered everything to the families by mid-December.
