Shea Thornbury is an environmental engineering professional, and strategic business development director with an emphasis on client service management. Shea will be leading the effort for Catalyst to grow the municipal market for Catalyst’s practices throughout California, with a focus on utility infrastructure, resilience, and advisory planning services. Her background is rooted in technical water and wastewater infrastructure engineering, with abroad experiences in England, Scotland, and Australia on high-profile and large owner agent programs. After her return to San Diego, she shifted her career path to focus on strategic business development and client service. She is particularly astute in anticipating potential project challenges, facilitating open lines of communication, and developing approaches that meet clients’ varying needs and perspectives.
In addition to developing business savvy during the past 28 years of her career, Shea holds a master’s degree in civil and environmental engineering and in business administration, both from San Diego State University. In her free time, she is with her 13-year-old daughter at the soccer field, beach, or ski slopes. Shea is a vegetarian and passionate about clean water, ecosystem restoration and community equality.
