Nicolaas Van Ooyen is an AICP-certified Environmental Planner with experience leading environmental compliance, permitting, and land use planning projects throughout California, Nevada, and Arizona. He specializes in CEQA and NEPA documentation, including Initial Studies, Mitigated Negative Declarations, Environmental Impact Reports, Environmental Assessments, mining reclamation plans, and land use permit applications. His experience includes renewable energy developments such as solar, battery energy storage systems, and geothermal energy development projects, as well as broadband infrastructure, mining, transportation, and wildfire resilience initiatives. Additionally, he has extensive experience working with projects on public and quasi-public lands which must maintain mixed uses such as agriculture, forestry or recreation in addition to meeting project goals.
Nicolaas has served in project management and technical lead roles, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing agency and stakeholder engagement, overseeing environmental studies, and navigating complex regulatory requirements.
