Gigi Dean is a professional archaeologist with over 9 years of experience in cultural resources management. Before joining Catalyst, she served as a Fish and Wildlife Contract Archaeologist for the Bonneville Power Administration. In this role, Gigi led Section 106 compliance efforts under the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), providing both technical review and field support for projects in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, and Montana. Through this work, Gigi has demonstrated her robust expertise on federal and state preservation laws and the application of these laws and their regulations. Her strong interpersonal skills are exemplified through collaboration and coordination with Native American Tribes and other archaeological and environmental professionals.

Gigi has archaeology and cultural resources management background within several sectors including academia, museum studies, private consulting, and at the federal level. Her areas of expertise include the Pacific Northwest, Intermountain, California, Great Basin, Central America, and Indian subcontinent regions. Gigi has worked in laboratory and industry settings and provides strong analytical skills and interdisciplinary collaboration to every project she approaches.

Gigi focuses on creating a documentary and administrative record of cultural resource impact analysis work through technical reports, compliance correspondence, Section 106 of the NHPA compliance, and contributions to California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analysis. She brings technical competence in archaeology and cultural resources management to a diverse range of environmental review projects though her extensive experience conducting archaeological surveys, cultural resource evaluations, and historic property assessments. Her areas of specialization include tribal relations, bioarchaeology, human osteology, and artifact analysis.
