The City of Carson is seeking to balance its support for a firmly established industrial (truckling, logistics, industry) economy with the need to develop more community-focused assets.
Catalyst assisted RRM (primary contractor) with preparing a Strategic Economic Plan for the City of Carson. Catalyst performed a review of the City’s green infrastructure and economic infrastructure, preparing map sets that included brownfields, natural resources, public assets/facilities, tree canopy, transportation assets, and energy infrastructure. Catalyst synthesized this data in Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analyses and developed recommendations for parts of the City that represent high potential for redevelopment (see map). Additional recommendations include a bikeway/greenway along Dominguez Channel as a potential public resource that provides both value to both green and economic/transportation infrastructure.

The Plan won the 2024 Award of Merit in the Economic Planning & Development Award category by the Los Angeles Section of the American Planning Association (APA) which is being considered for this award at the State level. We are honored to have been a part of this award-winning project and to have played a key role in enhancing the future of Carson’s local community.
